What a crazy 2 weeks of traveling for the Masons!
We started out our Holidays with a trip to Ohio to visit Jonathan's Mom, Dad, and Sisters for Christmas. It was a real joy to spend roughly a week with the whole Mason crew. Although we didn't get close to the 18 inches of snow we received in Virginia for Christmas 2010, we did get a small dusting the day after Christmas in Ohio. Jonathan took this chance to show me the town he grew up in by going to a basketball game at his alma mater. I was definitely impressed by the closeness of all the students, faculty, and families that make up a great school! Jonathan's dad also gave us a tour of the local fire station and his office. Sarah and I allied against the family in all the games we played. We definitely dominated a majority of the family game nights! High five Sarah!
After we left Ohio we decided to detour through some of the mountains of West Virginia (one of Jonathan's favorite places). The mountains were covered in a beautiful layer of snow.
For New Years we decided to visit Erin in New York City! I had never been to the city and figured it would be a good idea to make a trip before we head to the West Coast. We had a BLAST! Jonathan was very excited to be our tour guide and checked out several guide books from our local library to prep for the trip. We did A LOT of walking. I'm pretty sure we packed all the major places to see into 3 days of touring. By far my favorite was the Carnegie Deli. I've never had a better Rueben sandwich anywhere! Erin was awesome at navigating us through the city. I have to say she has become quite the City Gal and I am super impressed with her knowledge of the extensive public transportation system. We are very thankful to Erin and her roommate Jessica for opening their New Jersey apartment to us!
Now we are back in Virginia preparing for our trip out West! Hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday Season!
