I know its been quite a while since I have added anything to this blog but what can I say?? Life happens. It feels like this year is flying by so fast without a chance to sit back and think about everything we have experienced so far. It would be impossible for me to go through everything in one blog, so I will just update you on what has been happening lately.
Last week, Jonathan and I decided on the Great Compromise of 2013. I guess we have sort of created a tradition of compromising on big decisions every Spring. Last year, if you remember, the Great Compromise of 2012 was the purchase of our Honda Accord. This year's compromise is a bit bigger than the commitment of a new car. There are so many things we want to accomplish while we are on the Left Coast. Traveling being one of the biggest. We have big plans to take an awesome road trip up the Pacific Coast to Seattle to do some camping at National Parks and visit major tourist attractions along the way later this year. In order to accomplish all of our big plans and take advantage of being in California, we've decided we should put off having children until we make our way back east. I have to be honest, my biological clock has started ticking and we were very close to just saying the heck with it and diving head first into the kiddie pool. But that wouldn't be fair to us or a kid, so we are going to give it a bit more time to accomplish a few more things for us before we add another person into the mix.
One thing that I have always wanted is to have my teeth straightened. My mom and dad always strived to give me the things I needed and most of the things I wanted while growing up. Unfortunately it wasn't in the budget to under take a large financial commitment such as Orthodontics. It has always been something that has made me feel a bit self conscious. The teasing I underwent as a child and young adult was cruel and always made me feel like I couldn't truly smile. Jonathan has always loved my smile and has given me the confidence to be myself. He is my biggest fan and has always tried to make my dreams true. Now he is making one more of my dreams come true by supporting me in going through an Invisalign treatment to straighten my teeth.
Last year I had a consultation with the Orthodontist at my regular dentist and went over a few options. I've always had healthy teeth (just crowding) and he said I'm an ideal candidate for Invisalign. We didn't really act on the knowledge we gained at that appointment because we were still settling into our new marriage and new home. We decided that going ahead with the treatment now means we won't have to worry about it later when we have bigger plans (babies). Thursday I went to the Orthodontist and had molds and pictures done so they can create my Invisalign trays. I should receive them in about 4- 6 weeks, and I can start my treatment. I will switch out the trays every 2 weeks and will have an appointment with my Orthodontist every 6 weeks to make sure my treatment is working and on schedule. I'm very excited to get started and I will try to update as much as possible on my progress.
Friday, Jonathan finally had a half day at work, and we were able to take a little drive into the mountains and visit Julian, CA. We both needed the time together after Jonathan's busy work schedule has made it hard to spend quality time together the past few weeks.
Sunday, I had the opportunity to meet up with my sister, Julie, in Rancho Cucamonga. She is on the West Coast visiting her friend, Vanessa, who just gave birth to a baby girl. We ate an amazing lunch at The Cheesecake Factory (I've never been) and then did a bit of shopping. I'm so glad my sister could come visit and have a vacation on the West Coast.
I'm definitely looking forward to the beach days of Summer. I also have a few trips I plan to take while Jonathan is away. Hopefully I will also have a few visitors!! :)
